We at TourismFirst mourn the untimely demise of Ignacio Gutierrez, Director of Tourism Office of Spain in India (Mumbai). He passed away at noontime on November 16, 2018.
A man who donned many hats is an expression that comes to mind when one remembers him. And he did them all with élan. The administrative life of Ignacio Ducasse was closely linked to tourism and the external projection of Spain, achieving respect and recognition both of the Spanish tourism sector and of the countries in which he carried out his work. In Madrid, he held, among others, the positions of Deputy General Director of Economic-Administrative and Investment Management; and Deputy Director General of Knowledge and Tourism Studies. Abroad, he was Tourism Counselor in Toronto, Los Angeles, Tokyo and Mumbai- the city in which he has passed away.
We wish to convey our heartfelt condolences to the members of Spain Tourism office in Mumbai and elsewhere, his family and friends. We join the travel trade fraternity in the country to remember a friend of India and Indian tourism. His hard work, vision, and insights will forever live in our hearts. His memory will live with us forever. May he find eternal peace.
