Shalini Yadav was displaying her creations at Bikaner House last month. An interesting melange of art fusion with spirituality.
ESH ALEKHYA is an ode to the timeless art of traditional Indian devotional paintings. Shalini reimagines her reverence to God through a visual delineation in the light of spirituality and veneration. The exhibition is a bard-styled poetic union of multiple energies forming a spiritual undertone.
Esh ALEKHYA is a mesmerising interplay between mythology, storytelling and art forming a harmonious visual tapestry of multi-faceted depiction. This depiction forms a synergy between the devotee and the Divinity. Shalini believes that her spiritual pursuit has stimulated a new understanding of divine chronicles.
Every artwork is a well nuanced narrative of Shalini’s comprehensive research in harmony with the traditional method of composition by paying attention to details, colours and elements. Shalini has maintained a striking resemblance to a combination of styles in her paintings yet redefining the art of narration with new sensibilities. The exhibition narrates epic tales of different godly/divine manifestations in the form of Lord Krishna, Vishnu, Ganesha, Hanuman and Shiva.
Asked to comment on her journey, Shalini says “My fascination with art goes back to my childhood when I was captivated by my mother’s play of colours on the canvas. Growing up in an era where storytelling and listening were fundamental, I cherished those moments and have since endeavored to weave those stories into my own canvas. My journey into art began over two decades ago when I discovered my deep passion for the Kangra School of paintings. Today, art is an integral part of my life, and the vibrancy of colours adds purpose to it. Despite lacking formal education in fine arts, my dedication encouraged and guided me to learn traditional Indian art forms like Pichwai, Phad, Kangra, and Pattachitra. Each painting in my collection invites viewers to dive into a mythological journey and explore the rich Indian culture and heritage.”
Summing up, she says “I am thrilled to share my creations with others to recreate the timeless beauty of traditional Indian art. Combining my formal studies as a PhD in management with my passion for artistic pursuit, I weave the rigor and depth of my doctoral degree in traditional painting, bringing meaning to my canvases resulting in a fusion of artistic expression and scholarly insight.”
